If you plan on camping on East Cape beach, for firewood, the regulations only allow you to use what you find on the ground. Also, the tide swing there is a couple of feet and depending on the slope of the beach that can be 20-40 feet horizontally. You saw how my boat was beached. I also did not rely on having the anchor be the sole method of holding my boat in place. I brought 200 feet of rope to run up the beach and tie off to the trees. If I had to do it again, I would still use the the 200 feet of rope for the trees and use an anchor off the stern keeping the boat out in the water a few feet. How far out you anchor the boat will depend on what tide you anchor at.
