Key Largo diving & fishing report

Drove to Key Largo last Thursday, 4/17, with my long time dive buddy Mary. We met up with our two other dive buddies, Carole and Donna and checked into a suite at Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort, mm104.5. We dove Friday, Saturday, and Monday, and fished Sunday with Capt. Rich Berson.
We dove on Mollasses reef, Pickles reef, Snappers Ledge, French reef, the wreck of the Benwood. Seas were 1-2ft, vis was 50-60ft, very little current, water temp 75-77, max depth 40ft, all very easy diving. Weather was awesome, food was awesome, company was awesome. Needless to say, the trip was, you guessed it, awesome!!
Mary's brother and sister-inlaw own a home on a canal in Key Largo where they reside 6 months/year, and in VA the rest of the year. Friday evening we went to happy hour at Dave's sailing club. From another member of the club I learned a new definition for the acronym B.O.A.T. - Bring On Another Thousand. :P Saturday we went on an evening cruise with them to watch the sunset. One of their neighbors was having a BD party for someone and they had live music on the pool deck. We pulled up about 100ft. off their seawall to listen to the music. When the ladies started dancing on the boat the host invited us to tie up and join the party!! :woot:
Sunday Carole, Donna, and I fished with Capt. Rich Berson, Capt. Rich. Mary spent the day with her brother. The water temp changes recently had turned the Tarpon off completely. Permit and Bonefish are in deeper water right now so Capt. Rich took us to backcountry to catch fish. The ladies said they just wanted to catch fish. We caught Trout, Jacks, Ladyfish, Mangro Snappers, and one smart Snook that broke Donna off in the Mangros.
I ran into a guy on the dock by the Bass Pro shop in Islamarado wearing the same Gordon Boat T-shirt as me.... Matt from Delray Beach, proud owner of a Gordon 18.

Ended the trip by stopping for lunch yesterday at Alabama Jacks on the Card Sound Road.
I love Key Largo. Can't wait till July 4th week!! :y:
