Hunting redfish, snook, tarpon

Finally got some time off this past weekend to do some relaxing and exploring around Merritt Island.

Aaron (gonecoastal) brought his kayak over to join Alex Gorichky and I who would mothership in his old gheenoe with a trolling motor.

We set out saturday morning in exploration mode, Alex guided us across super skinny, mangrove covered ditches around Brevard.

The sights were awesome, fishing was fair with a few small redfish and snook to show for our efforts. We did launch some tarpon over 10 pounds in a small creek which was heart stopping on topwater (baby torpedo, black and silver).

Sunday more of the same with Aaron and I in the Canoe with similar fish results.

Mike Gulick joined me sunday evening and we pursued tarpon on live bait. We jumped 5-7 put never got one to smile for the camera.

A great weekend with good friends, fishing and exploring like teenagers.

Amazing what you can do without a drop of gas.
