We are not open to the pubic at this time. We will receive guests on a limited bases with an appointment. We are getting organized and do not have the time to show guests around that walk in off the street.

I will be showing a few guys around on Wednesday that are having boats built. If you would like to be worked in give me a call.

So it is full epoxy molded with no gel and then post-painted?
You guys are definitely trying to save weight.
That is a pricey boat, but most people don't understand how expensive the materials and process is.

Yes, painted no gel-coat and post cured before painting.

It is expensive, I would be the first to admit it, but its the way to go if you want to save weight. It is also the way boat building will go in the future for many different reasons. One, for health reasons on your staff, not to say you do not need to take care when working with epoxy and the paints. Polyester type resins would keep me from boat building, I do not even like being in the same building, but I can stand epoxy. In a way its a green boat, less fumes during building and because of the less weight it takes less horse power that means less fuel consumed.

Your right very few people understands the cost to build this skiff. Only about 10 builders in the US work with these material and most of them build sailboats, they also do not understand what it costs to R and D a skiff like this as well.

We could have designed a standard skiff and built 50 already, but it would not preform any better then whats already out there. We needed a edge and thats what we are getting with advanced composites, lighter and stronger.

I have not put this out yet but we will be offering a 10 year warranty on all composite parts built by Chittum Skiffs to the firsts owner, transferable if sold before 10 years for $500 to the next owner or owners, must be transfered within 10 days after sale. This does not include paint, but paint is covered by paint manufactures warranty.

Sounds good.
I also like that you built a test hull before building a mold. There are more than a few companies who go with computer models and/or just start building a plug. Then they spend the rest of production working out what is wrong with it. I have rarely seen boats that perform on software the way they do in the water - something always changes. Keep up the good work and post more production photos - that is what really sets this boat apart.

There is some news.
What is the warranty on all the other skiffs on the market? 10 years seems like a good number.
