What do you guys use to keep your trailer bunks slick.

Sorry to ask so many questions.

Stuff works really good...I push my skiff off with one hand. Just don't unhook boat from trailer until you get to the water. :)

This reminds me I'm about due for a new coat.

some spray silicon is all u need.

fatalbert43 09-20-2007 04:11 PM

Spray Silicone will do the trick.

Also, I do know some guys who wax thier bunks. I think they use gulf wax, but I am not 100% sure.

I just use the spray silicon also. It's a couple of bucks at the big box stores.

Like mentioned above, DO NOT unhook the boat until it is over water. I take a turn around the winch post with my bow line to slow the thing down coming off the trailer. If I don't it's like launching the Titanic.

what brand spray silicone. The ones I've tried don't seem to work that well.

Try Liquid Rollers. its very good but costs a bit more .most boating store have it. Mine comes off the trailer like crazy for about 2 months...then its time to re apply. Silicone can build up over time and actually can get sticky, so ive heard, but ive used it and it does work, but not like Liquid Rollers Spray.

Trailer Parts Superstore - Liquid Rollers Bunk Spray Coating, 10 oz.

Yeah liquid rollers is the stuff.

You can also use pure silicone for tires as well...the gel stuff.

I have used regular Spray Silicone from Ace Hardware. They have some stuff with Teflone in it that works the best.

Back down, shake the bow to break the static friction and it will slide right off the trailer.

I've just got the white bunk slicks on my trailer and my skiff slides right off with no problem at all.

Hey,

I just got some new carpet from ramline. What are bunker slicks. Mine was showing wood.

Jason S 09-28-2007 03:53 AM

They are hard plastic runners that you attach to your bunks. They have them at Bass Pro and probably at West Marine and other places.

Hope it helps.

I heard those will tear up your hull and gel coat? Any truth to that?

I saw some slicks on a ramlin trailer at the ramp and you could definatley tell the skiff that sat on it was green.

They don't do anything to my boat. As you know, I have a green skiff and my bunk slicks are still pearly white. They work great. The little skiff slides right off and lands like a leaf on the water.

On another note, if you ever get down this way give me a holler and we'll go fishing. Flamingo backcountry will start cranking up soon.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Got the new carpet installed. She slid on and off with ease this weekend. The carpet made alot of difference. It was pretty worn and torn. Winch doesn't make all the grunting noises as before.

Ramlin told me not to use any slickem. Said it makes the carpet sticky over time. I'm confused over that one.

EZ bunk lube

Best stuff Ive used (told to me by Hal Chittum) is a good silicon tire spray. EZ to put on and leaves no mess and kepps the hull siliconed where you cant reach it too..
