MT, come on over to The Fly Fisherman in Orlando today, I'll be working until 5:00 this afternoon. I have several lines rigged on demo reels and would be more than happy to let you decide for yourself. I think there's even a Wolff TT rigged on either an eight or nine weight.

A lot of lines out there, most of us have gone through a lot of trials. Basically a mono core will be stiffer and shoot better. It will be like a slinky in cold weather though. Braided core: will be limper and not quite shoot as well, but the frustration of tangled lines will be less. A lot of good lines out there. Try em if you can. |

I have used the shark skin. It is ok and not a favorite of mine. You have to get some finger protection if you end of using it a lot. (from what I read around on other forums.) So far my 2 favorites are the wulff triangle taper and the sa redfish. Both shoot very well. Hell I just bought some of the teeny lines because they were on sale basically 2 for 1. Haven't used those yet, so I can't comment on them.

I'm a monic fan.... Monic's got a new line called the "Backcountry" Line.. It's not clear, it is actually a light blue color and has a great taper that lays down real soft. The taper is similar to a bonefish taper (same taper as the all clear line). Monic is working on making that same backcountry line for me with a heavier front taper for turning over bigger flies at short distances (much like a tarpon taper)...should be the same taper as the Monic Tropical Seamless clear tip (green line). All lines are full floating. I've been using the Monic backcountry line in all conditions for the past few months and absolutely love it for times when you don't need a clear line.
