| New HB Owner: Prop Question 18ft Guide Hey all, 18ft Guide, 90 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. Does anyone have a prop recommendation for this setup? It is a new boat to me and the prop is hammered. Not sure what size is on it now. It seams to Rev out quick but I did not pay it close attention yet. What does a 4 blade do for you? Thanks for the help....

| A two stroke is fast enough to get you out of the whole with a three blade, and you will save on top end. I have had two three blade props on my skiff and I wouldnt go with a 4 blade personally. |

| 4 blade If you have your motor mounted as high as possible you have to use the 4 blade to stop blow out. I really love the 4 blades. You loose a little on top end but in the shallows I dont cavitate and the hole shots are incredible. |

| i would guess a 3 blade 17 Pitch at the most. Try a Yamaha k-17 stainless prop. they seem best on Yammie 90's cause their a semi clever design rather than a full ear prop, and are easier to spin for the 90...if going with a regular 3 blade SS prop, im guessing 15 pitch. call Powertech propellers and they will set you up... | I run a 4 blade on my 60 hp. I've got it mounted in the top hole on the mounting plate no jackplate. Yes it will run almost out of the water. I loose 5mph with the 4 vs 3 blade prop. If you're not worried about speed the 4 blade is the way to go tons of grip. Way better out of the hole. |

| I have a guide 18 with 90 2 stroke Yamaha. It has a 15 pitch 4 blade power tech and appears to be somewhat custom. It has some excellent characteristics - runs very slow on plane with tabs down and trim out to get through shallow areas, is on plane esentially immediately. It is squirrely when backing up and manuvering around the dock. Pretty slow, about 36 WOT. I suggest contacting HB for advice, I'd like to try a 3 blade like a turbo or stiletto which I have had on previous skiffs. Last edited by crlwms; 04-12-2008 at 11:11 AM. |
