Now, having recently gotten my New to me 18 Waterman I will have to try again... Dont know the limits of that skiff yet and I don't know if it will be good for Tarpon seasonin any thing more then light chop... the boat of choice in these parts for Tarpon is still the 16' SilverKing

The names of all the rocks over there crack me up. I'm lucky none are named after me.

If you had a caimen you would be better off

Mikey's screwing with you. A caimen would have drowned in the stuff we went through in ****sassa this year.

Engulfed--the Waterman will do fine for tarpon fishing over there. I've got one and I made several runs from the Bayport channel to Chaz point through some snotty stuff this year. We had one day where it was blowing 25-30 out of the southwest when we bagged it and went in while the big boat guys were still going out. It turned out that most of those guys came in not too long behind us--even though their boats run in a chop better, it's still no fun to fly fish when it's blowing that hard.

I think there are different stories on where that rock is. Either way its a great place to fish for the big ones.

Last time I saw a very large bull shark right off the public beach........scary

There are afew areas w/rock formations on those flats But Guidos is the one that has taken most lower units and I do know where that group of rocks is it is North of Pine Island.
As far as Big Bulls go yup, there are a few gigantic ones waiting around (8 footers) especially w/ the Tarpon in residence . I was fishing a little south of there (Howard Park Beach a few years back.... My friend and I just finished casting to a trio of Poons I looked down and saw an 8-9 footer(1/2 the length of my 18+ ft. flats boat(an Action Craft 1820) . We were about 100 feet from the waders and fishermen... SCARY

The Waterman made a believer outta me!

Hi all,
I went out of Bayport w/ a good friend today to finally put my 2003 Waterman through it's trial run. from the very start launching was as easy as it gets. She literally poured off the trailer. Once out of the No Wake tabs down Merc tucked beautiful Hole shot w/ no bow rise at all. No GPS yet so I cant be accurate w/ top speed but certainly fast enough (did have alittle trouble getting her to blow out and reach true top speed but once the old fuel was out of the bowl she sang (only about 1 minutes worth of time to get her blown out). No problems the rest of the day w/ any sluggishness.

She was not bothered by the chop in the least and handled very well when taking on other bigger boats wakes. with her Nose tucked she really handles like a much bigger / heavier boat .Tracks really nicely i really felt secure in aggressive turns. This is one "HELL" of a Skiff.

We played around for a few hours and My friend and I both were amazed at this boats capabilities Alot of fun for a little boat w/ a 60 on back

back at the ramp (low tide) the skiff floated back on it's trailer w/ only a Bow line...very easy. Im gonna like this gal.

Thanks for listening.... I really understand now! -HB-
