Fly line toe rails?

My name is Todd and I'm a new member to this forum. I have an 02 Hell's Bay Waterman Side Console. I'm thinking about getting fly line toe rails on my skiff. I know some people on this forum have boats similar to mine and I was woudering if toe rails make a big difference on my boat. I have been reading this forum for a while and look forward to start participating.

They are good for keeping your beer from going overboard when you walk around in your boat.

I have them on my Whipray. They are worthless.

If the wind is blowing less than 10mph it's not enough to blow the line around on the deck.

If the wind is blowing more than 10mph it blows the line right over top of the toe rails.

But that's just my opinion, and I'm no expert.

As said previously, they work well as beer retainers as well as keep my poll from vibrating so bad when underway. Helps me from stepping off the side of the boat to.

Have a 16 Whipray with rails. Agree with precious comments. It does not hold a fly line in a little wind. I recently bought one of these to try as a line holder Amazon.com: Toro 43-Gallon Spring Bucket #29210: Home Improvement
but I have not used it yet. I left is behind on my last trip in windy conditions. Go figure. I have cut a circular piece of wood to cover the bottom to give it a little weight.

What size plywood did you get?

I used 3/4" and it's a little too heavy...

Toe rails ruin the clean look of the front deck.

Stipping basket is much mo better

Yeah, not much for control. I really like my deck open with out them.

I just make a couple coils and throw it in the cockpit. Works good no matter how windy it is, you might have to throw the line a little harder but it wont blow out.
