Episode #3 A New Begining

Over the past weekend I had a great opportunity to sit and visit with Mr. Peterson, the new owner of Hell's Bay Boatworks, and discuss his plans for the future.

The future is bright. The emphasis moving forward is to do it right and to make certain that expectations are set with precision. As the production team finishes some of the improvements that are being made to some of the skiff's finish details, then expectations of how long the build process will be can be made from a factual basis rather than speculation.

By the collection of fly rods I saw in the man's truck, I think it can be said he knows what it's gonna take.

Chris P. was very amicable, and direct, with what he hopes to accomplish with HB. Props to him. I love mine. And it's a great brand that deserves to survive.

Personally, I'm interested in the Glades Skiff.

Additionally: thanks to Larry, Derek, and Byron for the invite, and the hospitality, this past weekend. It was fun.

I hope to meet Chris sometime soon as well.

I am also very glad that Hells Bay is back in business, they make the finest boats in the world and deserve a second chance. I love mine and look forward to getting another in a year or two.

Stopped by the factory this week to pick-up some swag. Mr Peterson greeted me a gave a quick tour of the facilities.
Things seem to be on track for the sucessful return of the best shallow water boat going

I stopped by the factory today and sat in the lobby for 20 minutes and drolled and awwed at all the pictures on the wall.

I was a Really nice 17.8 whipray(pre '05) with the fancy two tone decks, hulls was key lime and the decks where Cream.

Then I was a marquesa('07) with a 130 e tech/

Mr. Petterson wasnt around to show me the place but, he told me he would anytime:y:

I was able to film a show with Chris at the factory a few months back and he is indeed wanting to stay true to the Hells Bay idea. I do wish he would keep the boats in the old traditional way instead of adding sooo many extras to them though. After all this boat was designed to fish hard and shallow. But he is dedicated to the products quality and details. I think the company is in good hands.
