Thermostat's

How often does everyone change out their thermostats? I do the impeller change out once a year...My engine is a 07 yami 70hp 2 strk, 82hrs on the motor now...Changed the stat out other day, and could not believe it was even working...

Made a difference in the water pressure readings also...Have friends that say just remove it...That is not advisable, per some other threads...Back pressure...I think I will just do it annually like the impeller...It's certainly easily done...

If you remove/or gut the thermostat I don't think it will show any water pressure. Atleast mine did not.

The reason I posted that was because, I have forgotten about changing it out during the impeller change out...The new one brought my water pressure up around 5lbs while running @ 28mph....Anyway, its something to think about & remember to do....$30 part

Some people will drill them out, but not remove them. You have to keep water over the head for it to remain cool.

T-stats

T-stats should at least be checked during your annual service.
Do not remove, that was with the old OMC`s, they are different now.
Also remember, "It never hurts to put a new part on your outboard motor"
Also have your boat serviced one a year by quailified Dealer, try Marine Specialties in NSB
