I use Amsoil Synthetic exclusively in my Tohatsu 50 TLDI, primarily because it was recommended and I was told it's not a good idea to mix and match, that once you start using synthetic you should continue using it. Whether I've been wasting money or not is "water under the bridge". The oil is $33/gallon, but a gallon lasts several months at the rate I use my boat. 4 1/2 years, 292 hours.
