Monzi, I was wondering if you have sea star hydraulic steering on your whip with the Merc 40? I am running into some trouble getting mine to line up properly with the tiller bracket.

    Spotted Tail,
I love my Whipray. I have a 40 merc. that was on it when I bought the boat. I wish that I had a Tohatsu or Yamaha. They are lighter and I just like them better. My Merc has had a few problems, hopefully fixed now. The Whipray is a 2 man boat. 3 people is just too much. I don't know much about Charlotte Harbor. This boat can take ome chop, but crossing a large harbor on a regular basis is not for this boat.
I fish a 18 guide that friend owns, and I really like it. It is much more versatile, yet easy to pole. Nothing will go as skinny as a properly rigged Whipray. This is what I love most. It is a clean simple and great boat. Hope this helps.

Noticed you had a 16 Whipray. I am looking at one and trying to get as much feedback as possible. I just sold my BC Phantom, 16' but a lot wider than a Whipray.

What motor do you have on yours? Can you still cross the CHS harbor under halfway decent or better weather?
