CCA Youth Inshore Tourney

Got to guide my 8yr old in the mid-coast youth C-P-R tourney yesterday. Three age categories for biggest redfish, trout, and jack crevalle.

We headed out in the north lagoon and turned in a pretty good day. He hooked up 5 redfish, landed 3, broke off 2. His biggest red measured just a hair under 25", good enough for a 3rd place finish in his age category. We decided to stick to the shallows and go for top-slots/over-slot's instead of spending a lot of time trying to score on one 40"+ monster. He also hooked up two trout, landing one that was a hair under 27" and weighed about 7lbs. Awesome trout, but only good enough to get another 3rd place in his age category. Won some nice prizes.

Good to see a dad's and mom's spending days with kids on the water. There were some giant trout caught, with 4 kids bringing back pictures of trout over 27"...including one 11lb trout. Some really nice prizes to 1st place winners (costa's, fly rods, spin reels, etc).
