Nice tank Billy, I am just getting started. My tank is almost 2 months old and I am hooked! I might have to call you for some advice.

Wow Chris for two months that looks really good! All your zoanthids look really happy, that is a great indicator you have good water quality!

Call me anytime you like. I can talk about the facets of reef keeping longer than I can fishing! Make sure you keep up with water changes, thats the most important thing I have found with new systems.

What type of salt are you using? Or are you using seawater? Are you using Kalkwasser or anything else for calcium and alkalinity maintenance? What type of lighting and skimmer too?

How big is it? I cant tell from the pic!

I go to Marine land and use their water, it comes from some type of filtration process, its a bit low with calcium and ph so I add some Ocean Blend and let it mix for a while with a pump. I have a protien skimmer but no clue what size it is. As for tank specs its a 65 gallon with about 60 or so lbs. of Live rock.

For Lighting I have a power compacts with 2 96watt bulbs

Do you have any fish in there?

My finace works at Amazing Aquariums in South Daytona if you need any hard to find corals, they have them.

Let me know if you ever want to swap frags....I got some stuff you can have for free if you come get it......I will give you a big piece of my Red Montipora Capricornis which is an SPS, but will do good under power compacts.

A thing of beauty, but too much work...I'm gonna plan for a 60 gallon cube soon.

Thats awesome Larry! Let me kow when you have it going I have a bunch of coral I can give you that I have grown.

Check out the 2006 Reef Central Tank of the month, Pieter van Suijlekom's 2075g room sized reef wall. Simply amazing!

Chalk, trust me a bigger tank is much easier to keep than a smaller one. Not many 37g tanks look anything like mine much less have SPS colonies in them. I put massive amounts of time an effort into my tank.

A 60 cube is a great size though, easily lit with a 250w halide.

The only thing keeping my from setting up a bigger tank is the equipment cost. Once you have that, a big tank is EZPZ...."Dillution is the solution to pollution"!

And when you guys get your rock which is one of the most important things, go with aquacultured rock. Please dont support the dynamite weilding people who are destroying the indo pacific reefs. Not to mention it comes from the other side of the planet and most of the life on the rock is dead by the time you get it.

I bought my rock from Sea Life Inc.

I looked for months and did a ton of reaserch and this is by far the best and cheapest rock I found, only $3.50 lb, plus shipping is cheap for us in FLA.

So is this your tank or Christels tank? Christel claims to be the owner on RC?

I voted for the TOM for ya anyway before I realized it was you....was a toss up between you, double and Bri....SPS's were the key

Here's an awesome pico - Fabuloso's Sexy Pico - Nano-Reef.com Forums

Yeah she works at a reef shop is south daytona, she is almost more into it than I am. She likes to post on the reef forums, we both post but I havent been into it as much latley as she has, I just kinda let her run with it, its cool with me. When ever she uploads photos I just copy paste them here so you guys can see them, she spends 45 minutes taking pics sometimes and is getting really good, most all the new pics are hers. She told me the tank won this month on reef central! Our tank has really grown out since the move and she has been bringing home a bunch frags of latley and working on the tank as much as me. I bought the tank for our anniversary two years ago because thats what she really wanted. It is kinda both of ours, a cool hobby we can share. She loves fishing too but lets face it, most women are not down with waking up at 5:30 on a regular basis to go fishing, so reefing is an awesome alternative. I couldnt imagine owning one without her loving it too, I wouldnt be able to get away with buying all the expensive toys for it lol.

She is getting ready to setup a tank she got from her work, a 60 g acrylic hex. She wont even let me pick out the coral for that tank! She has a good plan and good equipment so I cant wait to see how it turns out.

That is a really sweet pico, I have seen it before. We have a little 5.5 that she has been bringing home little pieces of soft coral for, eventually we want to light it with a 70 watt metal halide.

Do you have a tank setup yet chalk? If you do I got plenty of red cap and green digitata frags for you if you want them.
